½ cup shortening

1/4 cup sugar

½ cup firmly packed brown sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

1 cup plus 2 T all purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375

Cream shortening, sugars, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well.

Mix flour, baking soda and salt in separate bowl then add dry ingredients to creamed mixture; stir in chocolate chips and mix throughly.

Drop small, rounded spoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 min or til done.
